A MASSIVE Thankyou to Matthew Garrett

I have finally got the the time where I unfortunately have to take the 'Box' back. It was very kindly lent to me for the last few months by a good Friend and my Mentor Mr Matthew Garrett - http://www.professionalmagic.com/.
I have got no idea as yet what I will now use as my finale, but it has been great while I had it. I suppose it will give me more time to practice my usual tricks and learn more.

There is an excellent new version of an old tried and tested trick which has been created by Matthew. It is called NINJA PLUS and it can be bought at various outlets especially at http://www.ninjaplus.com/ ..........Go on have a look It's great!!

Once again Thankyou very very much Matthew, for all your help over the year and for the use of your 'Box'.

Merry Christmas.

The Firemans Ball....

.....Well not really a ball, more like a house party for the Firefighters and their families.
It was around Kerry and Dions house in Kempston. My parents came along and enjoyed the party....my Mum couldn't wait to go, something to do with Firemen or something.....I think she thought they would all be in their uniforms!!!

There was Music, Karaoke and of course a show from me! It was mainly for the adults this time, although there were children there. It was held outside in a covered garden with heaters and a massive BBQ. It was quite difficult to get heard at the back and I should have used the mike, but cos of my dad I didn't, but that said, the immediate crowd around me could hear everything and joined in. There was a massive guy on the left who kept Heckling me.....who was I to argue, he was about four time as big as me, although he did get down on one knee and I thought he was gonna propose!!!

I did my usual stuff and this time the best received were the Bandana trick and of course my 'Box', as usual this worked as a good finale.

Anyway thankyou very much to Kerry and Dion for booking me and I hope you were happy with the performance. The kids certainly enjoyed the balloons!!, and my mum certainly enjoyed the firemen!!!

Verisimilitude

In his office Richard Donner the director of the film Superman displayed a model of Superman carrying a banner with the word "verisimilitude" which is the quality of appearing to be true or real. A truly magical word!

Lisa's Spoooky Haloweeen!

Once again sorry for the late post.

Anyway this party was sooooooooo good! It started sometime in the afternoon and I turned up at 5'o' clock. There were ghouls, spooks, ghosts, Devils and all other sorts of scary things all running around the garden ( I knew Lisa was a bit strange but each to their own!). Only joking Lisa! It was Halloween fancy dress party of course. I had set up my magic earlier in the day and this time I was to do my finale to Micheal Jackson's Thriller. It was wicked, so I was told of course!! I picked someone from the audience to be my assistant for the finale, and the lucky person to be cut in half was Imogen, who is Lisa's daughter. To the amazement of the audience she got into the box and......you know the rest by now.......It was great, there were gasps and screams and looks of amazement.

Shortly afterwards I made some balloons, which had previously been blown up for me (Thanks Dad), it's great when I don't even have to blow up the balloons!!

Later on it was time for the adults Halloween fancy dress party. this time there were witches, wizards, Frankensteins and even Sweeny Todd who was very scary with his cut throat razor and he kept offering to cut my hair!!! Not for me thanks!
There were two competitions for the adults, there was best dressed and best carved pumpkin. Congratulations go to Sweeny Todd for the best pumpkin and Frankenstein for the best dressed.

I repeated some magic later on, to a new adult audience, and things all went well again. Later on though, while I was busy entertaining the kids, Lisa was put into the box (without me knowing) and undertook the whole routine, she said she felt sick when she was spinning around, but I think it was more to do with a certain amount of alcohol she may have drunk first!!!

All in all it was a really good day and night and I think everybody had a brilliant time. Roll on next year!!

Jordan's 9th Birthday Party

Sorry it's taken so long to write this blog, but i've been really busy! I have had alot of work on recently, it's been great.

Anyway, we arrived at Jordans house about half an hour before the party was to start. There were people there already, so we set up as quick as we could and we met the Birthday boy. Jordan was sooooooooooo excited about his birthday and having his friends around for his party. He kept trying to put his hands in my pockets and see if he could find a Rabbit, but obviously not......because he lives in my hat!!!

I made Jordan a massive Birthday Cake out of Balloons and , I think he liked it because he put it on his head! Then I got him to put on a clown hat on because he was the Birthday Boy. His friends arrived and they all sat down, and then I started my magic show. I did all the usualy magic and it went down well. Once again in the absence of my assistant (blooming Primark!) my dad/chauffer put me in the box and cut me in half!!.....I need my assistant back.

After the show I made balloons and this time swords were the most sought after, with the occasional flower and oh yes some scissors!!! yes you read it right, some scissors. It turned out that one of Jordans guests was just opening up her new salon and she wanted some scissors for the shop, of course I was only too happy to oblige.

Anyway I had better go now, Once again Happy Birthday Jordan, next year you will be in double figures!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN AT SIMONES

A Halloween party around Simones yesterday, and what a night. There were fires in the garden, BBQ's to keep the food warm and a great selection of food, including Curried Goat!! that my parents love....but me?....not a chance!!!
We played games, and I did a Magic show.....which of course was enjoyed by all.....although I still can't manage to actually chop my assistant/sister in half!!

Dad left at 1am with Amba, as she had to be at work at NINE!! Me on the other hand stayed and enjoyed the party until gone 2am......well it wasn't a school night!!.....and I got to lay in in the morning while my dad went back to collect my illusion box!

Anyway, thankyou Simone and all your guests. It was a great night and what an entertainer that Magician was!!!!

What a Week!!!

Life was going normally up until last Friday, you know, boring school etc., but then it all changed. My dad called me on Friday 17th October and told me that my agent Clare had been on the phone and there was another casting to go for. Excellent!! The problem was that it was all to be very very short notice, the casting was on Monday at 5.00 and the filming, should I be lucky enough to get the job, was on Wednesday. The trouble with short notice jobs is that I need to get a performers licence which can take up to THREE WEEKS! We got a quick turnaround for the WIZBIT photoshoot, with huge thanks to Debi Momi the Education Welfare lady at the council, so we knew we would be luck to do it again.
On Monday my dad sorted out a new letter from the doctors and my school and spoke to Debi, it was to be touch and go but we decided to go for it.
Monday evening at 5.00 we arrived at the casting studio near Piccadilly Circus. I was in and out in less than ten minutes! Hungry, we went to Planet Hollywood for dinner before going back home on the train. What a wicked place!
We finished dinner and had a look around all the movie props, that was great. We then braved the heavy rain once more and headed for the train. It was then that my Dad received a call from Clare. He smiled. I had got it, wicked! I didn't care about the rain any more, I jumped in the puddles and kept laughing.
Mum and dad sorted out the licence on Tuesday, what a close call that was, but again the very biggest thanks to Debi Momi AGAIN!

Disaster strikes! At half past four on Monday night, my dad got a call from Clare....It was all off!!! Completely cancelled, a complete change of script........I was gutted!

Well, win some lose some......Actually I won that one because I reluctantly went to school and mum to work on Wednesday, but then at midday my Dad got a call from Clare, saying that it was back on again. He phoned my school to get me out by 2.00 and then my mum, to finish work a bit earlier and pick me up. The car was coming at 3.00 and we were filming at 5.00!

The taxi turned up, slightly late, and the we got stuck in traffic. What a nightmare! Thankfully we arrived (slightly late) and went straight to costume. WOW! No make up needed of course, lol.

We began filming at about 6.00 and it went on until about 8.00. I had an excellent time and have now certainly got the bug! We went home, this time by Dad's car....what a day!

Oh, did I forget top say what the filming was for? Well, it was an Ident, you know a sort of advert or teaser for the new series of Minder. My dad was very excited because he used to watch Minder in the 80's, I was excited because it was such a fantastic day!

Minder will be returning to our screens in January 2009.

Still very happy and excited, this is Lewis signing off!
